Today’s edition of Cameroon Tribune carries a report on the arrest of a gang of four suspects in Yaounde specialised in the production of fake birth certificates, diplomas, transcripts, municipal revenue collection receipts and national identity card registration receipts.
This trend could be eradicated if all institutions in Cameroon adopted and integrated Doc@uthANTIC into their official document production and issuance processes. This is plausible as the arrest comes at a time when Cameroon’s national cybersecurity Agency ANTIC, is showcasing to some 100 public administrations and private companies in Mbankomo – Centre Region, the digital signature scheme dubbed Doc@uthANTIC capable of inhibiting the falsification of official documents.
Speaking at the outset of the three-day event today, Technical Adviser N°2 at ANTIC, Mr. MEBADA EKANI Jean Pierre Alain, explained that Doc@uthANTIC - a forgery-proof digital signature scheme developed and deployed by ANTIC, secures official documents by guaranteeing their integrity and authenticity.
The solution, available for download on Play Store equally permits users to verify the authenticity of signed documents by scanning a QR Code using a smartphone, he hinted.
Recognizing this user friendly feature, over ten institutions in Cameroon in the likes of banks, government ministries, travel agencies and certification companies have already integrated the technology into the production and issuance chain of their official documents.
Doc@uthANTIC positions itself as a reliable and authoritative solution to the growing problem of document forgery in Cameroon and the institutions attending the Mbankomo workshop are expected to promote the fight against document forgery by adopting this solution.
