The ITU Telecom World that took place in Busan, South Korea September 25-28, 2017 was one of the 2017 International events for the ICT global community organised by the International Telecommunications Union, ITU. The event convened countries, companies, small and medium enterprises, organisations, and associations to exhibit innovative digital solutions, projects, initiatives, and partnership opportunities around the world.
In continuation of its nation-wide campaign to keep Cameroonians abreast of basic cyber security tips and best practices to be adopted in the cyberspace, the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, ANTIC, organised a Public Awareness Raising Seminar on Cyber Security, 29-31 March 2017, in Garoua, for the population of the North Region.
A 10-day workshop to this effect conducted by CTO experts, took place, 12 - 23 June, 2017, in Yaounde. The workshop which addressed key security themes including - the foundation of theoretical knowledge and practical experience of network and system security; principles of data and technology that frame and define cyber security and how to protect Critical Information Infrastructure was declared opened by Mr. Bouba Djamaa, Director of the Department of Standardization and Cooperation, ANTIC, on behalf of the General Manager.
Cameroon's Internet stakeholders - the government, civil society, academia and technical community are currently debating on an equal footing policy issues patterning to Internet governance in the country. The dialogue under the banner "Social Media and Internet Governance" is taking place within the framework of the fifth edition of the national Internet Governance Forum, dubbed IGF.CM-17. Cameroon's ICT promoter - the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, ANTIC, in partnership with other Internet stakeholders convened the forum that runs from 28 - 30 June, 2017 in Kribi.

In a bid to enable Magistrates of the Littoral Region better dispense justice in law courts especially on cases patterning to cyber criminality, the National Agency for Information and Communication Technologies, ANTIC, groomed the legal practitioners on the subject during a two-day seminar in Douala, 04-05 May 2017.
The ICT sector in Cameroon has been identified by government as one of the key pillars in propelling the nation to an emerging economy by the 2035 threshold. But the "high failure rate in the execution" of ICT projects initiated by various public institutions in the country signals an inconsistency in the impetus needed from this sector to streamline public service delivery, trigger growth, wealth and job creation.
