Over two hundred youths drawn from institutions of higher learning and leaders from Government, Industry, Civil Society, and Academia are being imbued with digital skills that would prepare Cameroonian youths to thrive in the fourth industrial revolution – the tech driven economy. This is taking place within the framework of the Cameroon Digital Skills Campaign organised by ANTIC in partnership with The Change Engine with training support from Microsoft, Microdoft4Afrika and Facebook, 02-04 September 2020 in Douala.

In his opening keynote address at the three-day conference, ANTIC’s Director General, Prof. Ebot Ebot Enaw, hinted that the campaign which in its second edition is taking place in five locations across Douala seamlessly interconnected by technology and seeks to boost youth employability, entrepreneurship and economic empowerment.

Given that youths are key to creating a new path for societal and economic advancement in our country, the Cameroon Digital Skills Campaign serves as a catalyst for mobilising and securing commitments from key players and stakeholders within the digital economy - Government, Private sector, Academia and Civil Society, to build a strong and joint national momentum that will ensure a healthy and well-educated future workforce, he noted.

This year’s edition of the campaign coming after that of Yaounde in August 2019, is providing an avenue for youths in the Littoral Region to get first hand access to training from world leaders in technology and education on the quickly evolving skill requirements of the post-COVID 19 technology driven economy.

The youths are being introduced to jobs in tech as viable career pathways and will have a chance to 'meet' men and women whose success stories can show them how digital skills can translate into reality new career opportunities and entrepreneurial ventures.

By the end of this event, hundreds of young Cameroonians participating in person and online; through keynotes from top players in the Tech industry, and with the help of skilled trainers, will have been empowered with fundamental digital skills and resources required to access new jobs and new market opportunities, and to thrive in the 'new normal'.
